SPEAKER BIO

The former award-winning newspaper and magazine editor became the first female editor in 160 years and is a published author.

I had to have it. Royal blue. Mock croc. Yellow flowers on the satin front. I was a little girl. And it was a businesswoman's briefcase. 'How does a little girl from a council estate have any business walking around with a briefcase?' you ask. She was manifesting through her clothes. When she saw that briefcase, she saw the books she'd written inside it. The pages not yet filled, the subject matter not yet defined. But it was there, nonetheless. And how ironic that the first book is about all the things that blue briefcase represents: the power of what you wear and the way it defines your relationship with yourself. I have no idea what happened to that briefcase. It probably got thrown away after a teacher accused me of plagiarism because kids from a place like this can't write that well, or the jobs adviser told me I was being unrealistic, or I got sick of hearing ‘you’ll never move off the council estate’ by the other kids when my mum managed to get me into the 'nicer' school. But the dream was never thrown away with it.  That briefcase, and the little girl who carried it, still live.
She manifested me into reality, without understanding that’s what she had done.

I hope this demonstrates not just the power of the storytelling I bring to audiences, but the purpose and passion behind my business and its name - The Style Editor.
